Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Master’s Degree: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from UGC recognized universities/institutions.
- Relaxation for Reserved Categories: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/Third gender category candidates need at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
- Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree, or are in their final year/semester, or whose result is still awaited, may apply provisionally. - 4-Year/8-Semester Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade are eligible. A relaxation of 5% marks is provided for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, EWS, and other categories as per UGC regulations. Such candidates are eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission but NOT for appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Ph.D. Degree Holders: Those who completed their Master’s level examination by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of result declaration date) are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.
- Subject Choice: Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation. If the subject is not listed, they may appear in a related subject.
- Foreign Qualification: Candidates with foreign qualifications should obtain equivalence from UGC.
Age Limit (as on 01 June 2026)
- For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Not more than 30 years.

Marking Scheme
- Each question carries 2 marks.
- For each correct response, candidates will be awarded 2 marks.

Medium of Question Paper
