Documents Required for Verification

Candidates must bring a complete set of self-attested/attested photocopies of all their documents along with the originals for verification on the day of the interview. Failure to produce any of the mandatory documents may lead to cancellation of candidature. The list includes:

  • Date of Birth Proof: Matriculation/10th Standard or equivalent certificate/mark sheet. If DOB is not on certificate, School Leaving Certificate is accepted.
  • Educational Qualification: Degree/Diploma certificate along with mark sheets for all academic years. Provisional certificate is acceptable if the final degree/diploma is unavailable.
  • Experience Certificate: Certificate(s) in the “prescribed proforma” from the Head(s) of Organization(s)/Department(s), clearly mentioning duration of employment (date, month & year), basic/consolidated pay, and nature of duties. Only experience relevant to the post will be considered.
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC): In the “prescribed proforma” from the competent authority, clearly indicating caste, the Act/Order of recognition, and ordinary residence.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Declaration: A declaration in the “prescribed proforma” stating non-creamy layer status on the crucial date, in addition to the community certificate (OBC).
  • Physically Handicapped (PH) Certificate: In the “prescribed proforma” issued by the competent authority, as per prescribed Medical Fitness standards.
  • Documents for Name Change (if applicable):
    • For Married Women: Photocopy of Husband’s passport (showing names of spouses) or attested marriage certificate (from Registrar of Marriage) or Affidavit from husband and wife with joint photograph sworn before Oath Commissioner.
    • For Re-married Women: Divorce Deed/Death certificate of first spouse; and photocopy of present husband’s passport (showing names of spouses) or attested marriage certificate (from Registrar of Marriage) or Affidavit from the husband and wife with joint photograph sworn before Oath Commissioner.
    • For Divorced Women: Certified copy of Divorce Decree and Deed Poll/Affidavit sworn before the Oath Commissioner.
    • For Other Name Changes (Male & Female): Deed Poll/Affidavit sworn before Oath Commissioner, original paper cuttings of two leading daily newspapers (one from permanent/present address area), and Gazette Notification.
    • For Spelling Error in Name: An Affidavit duly sworn before the Oath Commissioner.
  • Age Relaxation Certificates (if applicable): In “prescribed proforma” for Ex-Servicemen, Central/UT Government Employees, Meritorious Sports persons, Widows/Divorced Women, J&K Domicile.
  • Declaration for Government Servants: If currently in Regular Government service, a declaration stating that you have informed your Head of Office/Department in writing about applying for this selection. Also, a certificate from your employer stating your government servant status as on the closing date for the post.
  • Attestation Form: Duly filled Attestation Form (available on www.upsc.gov.in under the ‘Recruitment’ link).
  • Passport Size Photographs: Three recent (taken within 10 days) passport-size photographs (4cm x 5cm approx.) in colour, clear, full face, front view, with open eyes, plain white/off-white background. The candidate’s name and date of photograph must be clearly printed on the back. One photograph to be affixed on the Attestation Form.

Important Instructions for Interview Day

  • Verification of Information: Any false information or claim made in your online application will lead to rejection of candidature and potential debarment from future examinations/selections by UPSC and the Central Government.
  • Government Service: If already in government service, disciplinary action may be taken under appropriate rules.
  • Banned Items: Suitcase, luggage, mobile phones, cameras, Bluetooth devices, recording devices, I-pads, Pods, laptops, palmtops, or any other electronic/communication devices are strictly prohibited inside the UPSC premises. No arrangements for safekeeping will be provided.
  • Allowed Items: You may bring books, publications, manuscripts, Thesis/Dissertation, reprints of published papers, or any literary/artistic/architectural work relevant to the advertised post for scrutiny by the Interview Board.
  • Travel Expenses: Outstation candidates appearing for the interview will be granted contribution towards travelling expenses limited to Second/Sleeper class train fare (Mail/Express). Candidates must bring two duly filled copies of TA bill forms (available on www.upsc.gov.in/forms-downloads) and hard copies of tickets for both ways journey to facilitate settlement. Failure to bring hard copies of tickets may require sending them via email to accounts1.upsc@gov.in well in advance. The contribution can be collected from the Commission’s cashier on the interview day.
  • Conditional Interview: If interviewed conditionally, travel expenses will not be reimbursed until the conditionality is cleared. Candidates should carry adequate funds for their return journey.
  • No Guarantee of Selection: Being called for an interview does not guarantee selection or support for a higher starting salary demand.
