Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the prescribed minimum qualification and experience as per Schedule ‘E’ of NIT Statutes (Amended 2017) and subsequent guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE), GoI.

Common Essential Educational Requirements

Applicants must possess a first class in preceding degrees. If ‘first class’ is not mentioned by the University/Institution, candidates must have secured at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate. A certificate issued by the authorized signatory converting CGPA to a 10-point scale is required if applicable.

  • For Engineering Disciplines: B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent AND M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent AND Ph.D. in relevant/equivalent discipline. Direct Ph.D. after B.E./B.Tech. with first class in preceding degree is also considered.
  • For Architecture Department: B. Arch. or equivalent AND M.Arch./M.Plan. or equivalent. Essential qualifications for Assistant Professor (without credit points):
    • M.Arch. or M.Plan. or equivalent with one-year professional experience (for Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 6000).
    • M.Arch. or M.Plan. or equivalent with two-year professional experience (for Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 7000).
    • For higher cadres, educational qualifications and credit point requirements remain as per Schedule ‘E’ for Engineering and Sciences.
  • For Non-Engineering Departments: Ph.D. degree in the relevant or equivalent discipline with first class in preceding Degrees.

Assistant Professor (Level -12)
  • Good quality publications: At least 5 papers in SCI/SCIE/SSCI Journals.

Assistant Professor (Level -10)
  • Good quality publications: At least 3 papers in SCI/SCIE/SSCI Journals.

Age Limit and Relaxation

  • Maximum Age: Below 60 years.
  • Preference: Candidates within 35 years will be preferred for the entry-level post of Assistant Professor Level 10 and 12.
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD candidates as per Government of India (GoI) norms.

Experience

Experience requirements are as per GoI, Ministry of Education clarifications. Experience gained in institutions ranked by NIRF (up to 50 for IIMs/Management/Research, up to 100 overall/Engineering, 10 for Architecture) for a minimum of two years, or fully funded Central Educational Institutions, or State Government-funded institutions, will be considered. Individual experience less than six months with gaps will not be counted.

  3. Hard Copy Submission: After submitting the online application, take a print-out of the duly filled and signed form.
  4. Required Documents for Hard Copy: Enclose self-attested photocopies of all supporting documents, testimonials, and the proof of fee paid with the hard copy. A detailed checklist of required documents is provided below.

Candidates serving in Government/Semi-Government/PSUs/Universities/Educational Institutions must apply THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL or provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview. An advance copy of the application can be submitted.

Selection Process

The Institute reserves the right to shortlist candidates based on higher norms of qualification and experience than the minimum advertised. Shortlisted candidates may be required to appear for a written exam, presentation, or seminar in their respective departments, followed by an interview before the Selection Committee. The decision of the Appointing Authority (Board of Governors) on recruitment and pay-fixation will be final.

Important Notes for Selection

  • The Institute reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of vacancies or modify/defer/cancel any part of the recruitment process without prior notification.
  • Candidates who obtained their most recent Degree (Ph.D.) from NIT Raipur will not be considered unless there is a 3-year gap between leaving the Institute and the application submission date.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified via the Institute website www.nitrr.ac.in. No individual correspondence will be entertained regarding non-eligibility or non-selection.
  • Interview for candidates residing abroad may be arranged through Video Conferencing.

Government of India (GoI) norms for reservations will be strictly followed. Candidates applying under reserved categories must submit their Caste/Category certificates in the prescribed format. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificates issued on or after 1st April 2025 will be considered. EWS certificates are not applicable to this advertisement. Persons with Disability (PWD) must submit their Disability/Medical Certificate in the prescribed form.
