Job Profile & Career Scope

Being an Agniveer in the Indian Army is a unique and challenging opportunity to serve the nation. Under the Agnipath Scheme, individuals are enrolled for a period of four years, forming a distinct rank in the Indian Army. During this period, Agniveers will undergo rigorous military training tailored to their respective roles (General Duty, Technical, Clerk, Tradesmen).

Key aspects of the Agniveer job profile include:

  • Diverse Roles: Agniveers are assigned duties based on organizational interest, ranging from combat roles in General Duty to specialized technical tasks, administrative work, and skilled trades.
  • Training & Skill Development: Comprehensive military training will be provided, ensuring Agniveers are proficient in their duties. A detailed Skill-Set Certificate will be provided at the end of the engagement period, highlighting acquired skills and competency levels.
  • Discipline & Patriotism: The scheme instills a high sense of discipline, patriotism, and camaraderie, shaping individuals into responsible citizens.

Career Scope after 4 years:

On completion of four years of service, up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers will be offered an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the regular cadre of the Indian Army. This selection will be based on objective criteria, including performance during their engagement period. For those not selected for permanent enrolment, the skills acquired and the financial package (Seva Nidhi) will facilitate opportunities in civilian life, including potential assistance for entrepreneurship or further education.

Preparation Tips

To excel in the Indian Army Agniveer recruitment, a holistic approach covering both the online exam and the physical rally is crucial.

For the Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE)

  • Understand the Exam Pattern: Familiarize yourself with the number of questions, duration, subjects, and marking scheme for your specific Agniveer category.
  • Comprehensive Syllabus Coverage: Based on the category, focus on subjects like General Knowledge, Reasoning, Mathematics, General Science, and Computer Fundamentals.
  • Practice Regularly: Utilize the practice links available on the official Join Indian Army website. Solve previous year’s question papers and mock tests to improve speed and accuracy.
  • Language Proficiency: The CEE is conducted in 13 languages. Choose your preferred language wisely and practice in that medium.
  • Typing Test (for Clerk/SKT): If applying for Clerk/SKT, practice typing regularly to achieve the desirable speed of 30 words per minute in English.

For the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

  • Start Early: Begin physical training well in advance. Focus on running (1.6 Km), pull-ups, and other physical activities to build stamina and strength.
  • Proper Technique: Practice the 9 Ft Ditch and Zig-Zag Balance with correct technique to ensure qualification.
  • Diet & Rest: Maintain a healthy diet and ensure adequate rest to support your training.
  • Medical Check-up: It is highly advisable to undergo a personal medical check-up (especially for flat foot, vision, deformities, and ear wax) before the rally to identify and address any potential issues.

Document Preparation

  • Organize Documents: Keep all original and attested photocopies of required certificates (educational, domicile, caste, character, NCC, sports, etc.) ready.
  • Photographs: Ensure you have 20 recent passport-size color photographs with a white background, proper haircut, and clean shave (except for Sikh candidates).
