Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (as on 1st April 2026)

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a University established by Law in India, or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto.
  • English Shorthand & Typewriting: Good knowledge of English Shorthand with a minimum speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) and English Typewriting with a minimum speed of 40 words per minute (w.p.m.).
  • Computer Knowledge: Knowledge of Data Entry, Word Processing, and Computer Operations.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Private Secretary Grade-I post comprises three stages:

  1. Stage I: Computer Based Test (CBT) – Total 400 Marks

    This stage includes three parts, to be conducted in a single shift with a 15-minute gap between each part. The question paper for Part-A will be available in both English and Hindi.

  2. Stage II: Shorthand Dictation Test – Total 200 Marks

    Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) from Stage-I will be called for this stage.

    • Dictation: A passage of approximately 500 words in ENGLISH will be dictated in 05 minutes.
    • Transcription: Candidates will transcribe the dictation on the computer within 30 minutes.
    • Required Speed: English Shorthand: 100 words per minute; English Typewriting: 40 words per minute.
    • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 160 out of 200 Marks.
  3. Stage III: Interview – Total 75 Marks

    Candidates three times the number of vacancies (category-wise) from Stage-II will be called for the Interview.

The final merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in Stage-I, Stage-II, and Stage-III Examinations. If two or more candidates secure equal marks, the older candidate in age will be placed higher in the final Merit list.

  1. Registration: Visit exams.nta.nic.in/allhcre/ or www.allahabadhighcourt.in. Register using your Email ID and Mobile Number to generate a system-generated Registration Number / Application Number.
  2. Fill Application Form: Log in with your Application Number and Password. Fill in all personal, educational, and other required details accurately. Exercise utmost caution as only a few fields will be open for correction later.
  3. Upload Documents: Upload scanned images of your photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, category certificate (if applicable), Class 10th certificate, and employment certificate (optional) as per the specified format and size.
  4. Pay Application Fee: Pay the prescribed application fee online using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI through the State Bank of India payment gateway.
  5. Download Confirmation Page: After successful payment, download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.
