Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (Essential)

  • A Degree/Diploma in Textile Technology/Handloom Technology from a recognised University/Institute.
  • 10 years’ practical experience in a responsible position in a Government Department/Undertaking/reputed commercial concern dealing with Textile Industry.
  • Knowledge of Bengali- spoken and written.

Desirable Qualification

  • Knowledge of Export Markets in the trade of Handloom/ Textile Production/ Hosiery/ Readymade Garments Industry.

Age Limit

  • Candidates must not be more than 45 years on January 01, 2026.
  • Age relaxation is applicable at the discretion of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal, for candidates having higher qualifications and/or longer experience than those prescribed, and for persons holding substantive appointment under the Government.
  • Upper age concession up to 5 years is admissible only to S.C. and S.T. candidates of West Bengal.
  • Up to 3 years for O.B.C. (category ‘A’ & ‘B’) (non-creamy layer) candidates of West Bengal.
  • Up to the age of 45 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
  • S.C., S.T., and O.B.C. candidates of other States may apply for unreserved vacancies as general candidates and will not be eligible for age relaxation.

Experience

Selection Process

  1. Screening Test (if required): If a large number of applications are received, the Commission may conduct a Screening Test to shortlist candidates for the interview. Marks obtained in the Screening Test will solely be for shortlisting and will not be considered for the final merit list.
  2. Interview: Candidates will be called for an interview. The Commission has fixed qualifying marks for the interview:
    • Unreserved Category: 50%
    • SC Category: 45%

    Candidates failing to secure these marks will not be considered for the post.

  3. Tie-Breaking Rule: In case of a tie in interview marks, preference will be given to candidates who are seniors by virtue of their date of birth. If dates of birth are also same, candidates with a higher percentage of marks in the examination meant for the minimum qualification required for the post will be considered.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates will be required to furnish all requisite certificates regarding educational qualifications, proof of age, experience, and caste/category (if applicable) as and when required by the Commission.
